The partnership

Equipped to train.
Room to grow.

The young people at Bronx Legends are at the heart of this collaboration. Through film and photographs, we’re documenting their daily life at the academy: training, listening, learning, and showing up for one another.

Everlast provides our bags, rings, apparel, gloves, and handwraps, and sponsors our video and photo series. Back in the Bronx, where Everlast began in 1910, the brand is returning to support our mission and the young people who train here.

The films and photographs are captured through the lens of Jay Bulger, the program’s founder, documenting the kids and the everyday life of the academy.

Backyard Brawlers

The young people behind the gloves.
A film from inside Bronx Legends.

Before they had a gym, three of our students were boxing in an empty above-ground pool in a rundown backyard. Backyard Brawlers follows their path to Bronx Legends—and what it means to find a place to train, a community, and a program that costs them nothing.

Meet Carlos Peralta

He keeps showing up.

Before Carlos Peralta trained at Bronx Legends, he and his friends boxed in an empty above-ground pool in a rundown backyard. Their makeshift ring is where Backyard Brawlers begins. What followed is a story we’re still documenting.

Carlos joined the academy in September 2025 and became a regular presence. In the production notes for the film, the program’s founder described him as the one who kept showing up. The documentation follows him training and sparring, riding the subway, and bringing his younger brother Kyle into the gym.

He also wants to be an actor. Carlos has attended every acting class offered through the program, bringing that same commitment to a different kind of work. The acting class is the subject of our next video with Everlast.

Everlast provides boxing equipment and clothing that our young people use in their daily training. Through these films and photographs, captured through the lens of the program’s founder, we’re documenting the people inside that gear—and the lives and ambitions they bring into the academy.
